The vessel is perched in a bed of encrusted coral sea life, a large starfish, and crustaceans attached all over it. The Fautaua Valley provides the drinking water for the capital of Tahiti, so perhaps similar vessels were used in antiquity to carry water.

This is a mug shaped like a decaying grouper fish. It measures 11" long by 5" tall and was made in two color-ways: brown or green. Comes with a lidded top on head with straw hole and another straw hole in side. The Grouper is also known as the pugapo in the Visayan Islands and in New Zealand, "grouper" refers to a type of wreckfish, Polyprion oxygeneios, which goes by the Māori name hāpuku.
