Kongo-Kai

This Kongo-Kai version of a Fire Dancer Mask Tiki mug is inspired by the Baining people of Papua New Guinea and a freestyle carving Michael did on one of his earlier Baining Fire Dancer mugs, so the form is very much PNG, while the design is reminiscent of a vintage Mai-Kai mug. When combined with the black/yellow color pallete, it resembles, Michael says, a whimsical African piece, more than PNG. They're all handcarved and glazed and each one is unique. High fired to 2380 degrees and made with food-safe glazes.
