"Solomon Islands Nguzu Nguzu Canoe Prow (edition of 25)

This mug is based on a wood carving found inside Max’s. The nguzu nguzu (sometimes called a musu musu or toto isu) is the traditional figurehead which was formerly affixed to canoes in the Solomon Islands. It was attached to the canoe's prow at the waterline, and was held to provide supernatural protection during expeditions. Nguzu nguzus typically depict bust-length figures with large heads, small arms, and circular ear ornaments; the hands are raised to the figure's chin, sometimes clasping either another head or a bird. Their jutting jaws were traditionally held to be an attribute of spirits.

This edition of 25 mugs was made by our ceramics team in Max’s in-house ceramics studio. All mugs are numbered on the bottom. They hold 14 oz of liquid. The mug comes in two pieces, with the mug resting on the shoulders and arms."

"This edition of 40 mugs was made by our ceramics team in Max’s in-house ceramics studio. It’s based on a vintage carving by the late great Leroy Schmaltz, co-founder of Oceanic Arts. This carving hangs on the wall at Max’s.

All mugs are numbered on the bottom. They hold 12 oz of liquid and stand approximately 9” tall. Limit of one mug per person."

This is a mug shaped like a robed goat-headed figure holding a switchblade in one hand in front and a skull in the other hand in back.

This mug was designed by Sven Kirsten for Kahuna Tiki and Kahuna Tiki TU. It is a Lono tiki head that incorporates the Samurai "Mempo" facial mask imagery and features a Samurai sword on the reverse stabbing a fish (inspired by vintage OMC Samurai Grog Mugs and also alluding to this being a sushi establishment).

This mug was released by Sven Kirsten on June 25th at The Original Tiki Marketplace in Garden Grove and on June 26th at the first inaugural Desert Oasis Room Listener Meet-Up in Los Angeles by Sven Kirsten at his booth. This glaze color was not released at the restaurants, but was a Sven Kirsten limited edition exclusive.

This mug is a reproduction of the original Mr. Bali Hai, the mascot for the Bali Hai Restaurant in San Diego. Mr. Bali Hai is an oblong head with a bone through the nose and large white hoop earrings, with sleepily lidded eyes. The mug comes with a lid with two straw holes. This version is glazed in metallic gold and marked on the bottom "Happy 65th Mr. Bali Hai".

This mug was given out at a "Solid Gold Luau" event at Bali Hai on Shelter island in San Diego to celebrate the 65th anniversary.

The Blue Lady is based on a 1950 painting by Vladimir Tretchikoff. It became one of the world's most popular paintings when made into a print in the 1960s and 1970s. The painting was of an unknown Chinese girl and was best known for the unusual skin tone used for her face (a blue-green color). Recently, the model for Tretchikoff's painting was found to be a then 17-year-old Monika Sing-Lee (now Monika Pon), who was then a single girl working in her uncle's laundry in Cape Town.

The first 10 of this monochromatic edition were released in Palm Springs, at The Reef. Later, they were sold through the Eekum Bookum website at a slightly higher mark-up.

This is a mug shaped like a rum barrel. Covered with nautical floats, nets, barnacles, and other sea life.

This Ku tiki styled mug is glazed in crystal blue on the exterior with a white interior.

The reverse depicts the iconic Poolbeg Stacks (Generating Station) -- these two distinctive chimneys, built in 1969 and 1977, stand over 207 metres and poke Dublin’s skyline.

Holds 33 cl (just over 11 oz). Limited to 200 pieces.

This is an artist proof of the Skull mug that Bosko made for False Idol. The mug is shaped like a large skull and was designed and manufactured by Bosko. It has large eye sockets and is missing its lower jaw. This mug is based on Bosko's own carvings at False Idol. Bosko also made a yellow first edition False Idol Skull mug and followed up with a second edition green & red holiday edition Skull mug.

This is a mug shaped like a sleeping monkey head with an open third eye on his forehead.
