Tiki Mugs
Keeper of the Birds Mask Mug - by Tiki Rob
in 0 collections
This mug is one in a series of mugs by Rob with natives (Menehunes) holding masks in front of their faces.
From Ken Ruzic:
"'Keeper of the Birds' is the result of a collaboration between TikiRob and myself. It was based on a drawing and painting I had produced a few years ago. Rob made only three of these... one fully glazed and finished one for a patron, one fully glazed and finished for my studio, and the 3/3 one, glazed on the inside (safe to drink from) but custom painted and sealed on the outside by yours truly."
The 3/3 version was sold by Ruzic on Etsy.
As seen in the background image, Ruzic also produced this design as coloring pages.
Volcán - by Bai - for Avuá Cachaça & Tiki Cocktail Box
in 0 collections
From Avua Cachaca:
"We are excited to release Avuá Cachaça's Volcán mugs, designed by the masterful Maï Baï of Paris and designer for Dirty Dick. This piece was inspired by the architecture of Oscar Niemeyer such as the Volcán cultural space in Le Havre, France.
Bai mashed up this mid-century style with the classic tiki mug Moai, alluding to to the proud native warriors of Brazil - the Tupi. As Oswald de Andrade wrote in a seminal article on Brazilian art: Tupi or not Tupi, that is the question, an inspiration to bossa nova, Niemeyer and artists ranging from Caetano Veloso to Stan Getz to Os Mutantes.
We have partnered with Tiki Cocktail Box to get this out there - get them while you can!"
