A mug shaped like the head of a clown. Based on Killer Klowns from Outer Space, a 1988 American science fiction horror comedy film. The film is about a clan of evil aliens from an unknown region, who all resemble circus clowns. They arrive on Earth and invade a small town in order to capture, kill, and harvest the human inhabitants to use as sustenance. The film received generally positive reviews and has been considered a cult classic.

This pink bowl with blue glaze running down the sides (similar to glazing on the Vicious Virgin Bowl Arm Lowered) features three nude girls around the outside. Each is kneeling and has a hand behind her head (similar to Holland Mold Pinup Girls). This bowl design was originally used at the Leilani in Wisconsin (mentioned in Tiki Modern on page 112) and the Marie Antoinette Restaurant and Tahiti Bar in Quebec. It was most originally produced by Beauce Ceramics. This version is a faithful rendition of the design and glaze by Gecko'z South Sea Arts. It is also pictured in the book, Tiki Mugs, by Jay Strongman on the top of page 93.

This bowl was manufactured by Gecko'z South Sea Arts for Martin Denny’s funeral in 2005. This is a custom 1 of a kind bowl used at the funeral for offerings with tikis, lava style glaze, and lava dripping from the edge of the bowl. This traditional bowl design was first used at Trader Vic's with three of their round-headed tikis (still seen today as their salt & pepper shakers) supporting a round bowl.

This is a mug featuring a standing Ku on front, 3 Chinese jade tiles on each side (lashed together on bamboo lattice), and a large clam shell on top. This is the "Kissed By Pele" edition. Clam shell is deep enough for some liquid and back has a rectangular slot opening to access rest of mug.

This is a mug shaped like an octopus entangled around a shell. It comes with a red, blue, green, purple, or gold glazed octopus. This is the first piece issued by the designer, Tattiki.

This mug features a standing kane on one side of the mug and a wahine on the reverse with a line pattern in-between forming a diamond of sorts on sides. This is the "Kissed By Pele" edition with dark "cooled lava" color exterior and red "molten lava" glaze dripping over top rim.

This green mug with a white interior is in the shape of an old Chinese man with a long braid holding a pipe. It reads "The Mandarin Ghirardelli Square San Francisco, California" on bottom.

The Mandarin Restaurant was founded in 1968 by Chinese food doyenne Cecelia Sun Yun Chiang. What Julia Child did for French cooking in the United States, Cecilia Chiang did for Chinese cuisine in America. Trader Vic (Bergeron) became a sort of mentor to Cecilia Chiang, especially when she moved to Ghirardelli Square where he had Senor Pico. Trader Vic brought columnist Herb Caen to The Mandarin, Caen wrote about it, and off it went. (Note: This writer was handling public relations for Trader Vic’s at that time.)

In the heyday of the Mandarin's success, Cecilia presided over an elegant restaurant that achieved a national reputation. Visitors from all over the country came to seek authentic and fine Chinese dining. She held cooking classes that saw students the likes of Julia Child, James Beard, Alice Waters, Marion Cunningham, Jeremiah Tower and Danny Kaye come through. This Ghirardelli Square stalwart closed its doors in 2006. However, the family legacy lives on...Chiang's son, Philip, is a co-founder of the restaurant chain P.F. Chang's. He also ran a sister version of the Mandarin in Beverly Hills (1975-2001).

This boar's tusk mug has a hand-painted Polynesian tattoo design and a rope-wrap at base. Measures 8.5" high and nearly 11" from base to tip by 3" wide. Each mug's glaze colors and tattoo work vary.
