THE THING! Mug - by Moore Monsters
in 1 collection
This mug is based on The Thing, from the film of the same name.
The Thing is a 1982 American science fiction horror film directed by John Carpenter and written by Bill Lancaster. Based on the 1938 John W. Campbell Jr. novella Who Goes There?, it tells the story of a group of American researchers in Antarctica who encounter the eponymous "Thing", a parasitic extraterrestrial life-form that assimilates, then imitates other organisms. The group is overcome by paranoia and conflict as they learn that they can no longer trust each other and that any one of them could be the Thing. The film stars Kurt Russell. It was subsequently re-made in 2011, and its style of special effects monster has been repeated often in other film/television since its debut.
The Thing's clawed arm juts up to form a handle, and there is an opening in the top of the head. It holds 3 1/2 cups of liquid (28 fluid ounces).
Available in a variety of glaze colors.
Fong's Pizza Slanted Two-Ring Bamboo Mug - Brown Edition
in 1 collection
This mug is shaped like a piece of bamboo and is glazed in brown with the red lettering and dragon logo graphic from Fong's Pizza. Magic ZOMBIE! Glass - by Sex And Monsters
in 4 collections
This clear zombie glass features artwork of a zombie flanked by two nude "Surf Witches". Artists: Nik Poliwko, Sveta Shubina, Matt Durston, and Will Penny. The heat decal on the glass is temperature sensitive and the zombie is invisible during room temperature but appears when filled with a cold drink. This effect was used on vintage glasses, usually with "girly" or "risqué" or "peek-a-boo" pinup glasses that would have clothes disappear to reveal the nude or scantily clad figure beneath. These glasses sold out quickly through Kickstarter and through the Sex and Monsters website. However, despite the huge success of the glass's release, Will Penny says another issue of similar glass is unlikely since the manufacturer they imported them from is no longer available.

Marquesan Tiki Mug - by Tiki Diablo - For Smuggler's Cove
in 6 collections
This is a Marquesan tiki mug from Danny "Tiki Diablo" Gallardo made exclusively for Smuggler's Cove in San Francisco. This original design is Tiki Diablo's artistic interpretation of the historic Marquesan-style tiki that resides above the pond at Smuggler's Cove with barnacles added to better suit Smuggler's nautical theme.
This tiki was carved by Eli Hedley and sold in the 1950s at his Island Trade Store (which also had a location in Disneyland and where a similar tiki stood for over a decade in the park). This tiki was sold to Trader Dick's in Sparks, NV where it stood outside the entrance until placed indoors when Trader Dick's moved inside the nearby Nugget Hotel & Casino. When Trader Dick's closed in 2014, the tiki was purchased and displayed at Smuggler's Cove.
This mug was sold online only during the Covid quarantine shutdown and sold out quickly in a single day.
