Babalu's San Diego Museum of Art Drum Mug

This mug was inspired by original native pieces in an SDMA (San Diego Museum of Art) show which closed on February 28, 2010. The show, entitled Oceanic Art: A Celebration of Form, featured 97 three-dimensional works, primarily from Melanesia and Polynesia, and objects from Micronesia and Taiwan. Plate 71 from the exibition book will show what inspired Mr. Henderson. This mug has a very traditional Papua New Guinea drum design featuring a mask with two birds facing away on the top and bottom. Body of drum mug is glazed brown and has a chiseled wood appearance. Top has drum skin with rope ties around lip. A very detailed piece.

This off white teapot was manufactured for Steve Crane's Kon Tiki restaurant. It features the Kon Tiki logo on the front in brown letters. It also has a brown band around the top of the pot's edge, where the lid meets the pot. There is a similar version put out by Walker China without the brown band.

This Tiki mug has an aggressive sharp-toothed head and a lined end cap at top. It resembles a combination of the Orchids R-3 and the Treasure Craft Tiki mug. Marked "Johnny Sens N.O. L.A." on back near bottom. Glazed in a variety of colors.

Vasija 33 was manufactured by Porcelanas Pavon in Spain. The mug is yellow with identical smiling heads on both sides. Each head has arching eyebrows in black and red, closed/squinting almond shaped eyes, and a triangular sun ray type of pattern projecting around the outside of the face.
