Nachisly Parrot Mug - by Tiki Farm - for Undertow
in 5 collections
From Undertow:
"Modeled after the skull of the parrot from a story out at sea, it's a rare find that belongs on any tiki mug collector's shelf. It was a noble bird with ties to royal rituals: 'After gently removing the vials of liquid, the only thing that remained in the ornate chest were the hand-painted skulls of the Nachisly Parrot. Each was wrapped in dried lahala leaves and carefully stacked side to side to prevent the bones from cracking.' According to lore, the feathers of the Nachisly were plucked one by one to create the coronation headdress of the new tribal King. This noble gift cost each bird its life, and their skulls were dried and cleaned and used as drinking vessels during the coronation ceremony. The inscription reads: This noble sacrifice creates beauty among those who celebrate the continuing bloodline of Kings. May luck and good fortune find those who hold and drink from this rare bird's hollowed remains."
