Papua San - by Tank Standing Buffalo - for Tiki Farm
in 8 collections
From Tiki Farm:
"A little back story for you... Papua San, along with Rongo-Rongo and A#1 Boss Man are part of an unspoken lineage that probably not too many of you are familiar with. Starting with our 'Artist Series 4-Pack' mugs back in the early 2000’s, followed-up in 2012 by our Chongolio-designed line of 3-classics, then in 2021, onto the world-premiere of the hugely popular Marqool, Pineapple King and Mow-Mow and now Papua-San rounds out our current trio of our modern-era Classics, with Rongo-Rongo and A#1 Boss Man filling out the ranks!
Our desire is to present to you what made the resurgent movement so popular in its’ earliest days... classic designs with our artists inspired and creating their own visions of such beautiful stylings. Classic adornments like the stylized cowrie shells and the carved Subut birds flanking our Tiki are classic elements found in Papua New Guinea art. This is a finely-designed and finely-sculpted piece, with a high level of attention to the smallest, most intricate details.
The glaze tones are sublime and hopefully our photos do them justice. Muted and dusted tones of earthen red, deep charcoal hand painted accents and rubs and the natural hues of the untouched fired clay prevail on Papua San so nicely. This beautiful mug also feels very nice in-hand, with a comfortable fit and serves as a purposeful size, measuring 7 ¼ inches in overall height and having an 18-fluid ounce capacity."
Reverse has a wide open space for imprinting, framed by cowrie shells and boar's tusks.
