Ken Ruzic Mai Tai Glass - for Wilfred's Lounge
in 0 collections
From Wilfred's Lounge:
"Early on during the Wilfred’s Lounge build, Proprietors Nat and John Komes had a vision for a grand mural that would weave together their Honolulu and Napa Valley roots. Working with artist Ken Ruzic, the project was developed and realized over the course of an entire year. Now a striking, giant 14 x 40-foot mural, including a 10-foot-tall Lono graciously offering an overflowing bowl of luscious fruits, greets our guests upon arrival — welcoming all to leave everything behind.
The mural art is the inspiration for our Ken Ruzic Mai Tai Glass.
In honor of Wilfred’s mischievous spirit, we put a twist on tradition by depicting an authentic Hawaiian Outrigger but with Flora, Wilfred’s sister and our family matriarch and muse, standing proudly at the prow on her journey from Honolulu to Napa as a young woman in the 1920s. Flora is bringing a bounty of grapes as a nod to our family’s winemaking heritage; Flora Springs Winery was established in 1978 in St. Helena, Napa Valley and continues to be family owned and operated today. In the background is an island-inspired take on the historic landmark Napa First Street bridge, illuminated by tiki torches and surrounded by palm trees, lush vegetation, and vineyards, which in real life is just steps from Wilfred’s Lounge.
An essential for every tiki collection, this classic is must-have for the tiki enthusiast to celebrate the opening of Napa’s first and only tiki bar and restaurant — this is our one and only Mai Tai glass.
• Production: 500 • Capacity: 14-ounces • Material: Glass • Release year: 2021"

This is a mug shaped like Wilson the Volleyball, a prominent set piece in the film Castaway (2000), starring Tom Hanks.
In the film, Chuck, a FedEx worker, is stranded on a desert island after a plane crash. While attempting to start a fire, Chuck cuts his hand. He furiously throws several objects from the salvaged FedEx packages washed ashore after the crash, including a Wilson Sporting Goods volleyball, and leaves a blood-stained handprint on the ball. After calming down, Chuck draws a face into the smeared blood, names the ball Wilson, and begins talking to it. He continues to talk to it regularly during the rest of his time on the island.
