Ernest Hemingway Tribute Mug in Petrol Blue
aka Papa Mug in Petrol Blue, To Have or Have Not -- The Mug in 16 collections
This mug is sculpted to look like Ernest Hemingway wearing a hat and a thick nautical-style sweater. Glazed in a blackish blue (petrol blue). The sweater, particularly, resembles the one worn by Hemingway in a photo, captured by renowned portrait photographer Yousuf Karsh, and is one of the most iconic images of Ernest Hemingway. Karsh made the image at Hemingways home in Cuba in 1957. Hemingway is renowned for his contribution to literature and, especially in Tiki circles, for his special frozen daiquiris consumed at La Florida. These drinks were called Papa Dobles and each consisted of 2 oz white rum, 1 oz fresh lime juice, ½ oz fresh grapefruit juice, ¼ oz maraschino liqueur, and 1½ to 2 cups of shaved ice. These mugs were sold through Bespoke Barware, a sister offshoot of CheekyTiki.
