Exotikon 2023 Marquesan Tiki Mug - Satin Black Coco Joe's Edition - by Jordan Reichek & Tufan Sezer
in 2 collections
From Exotikon's website store:
"Our EXOTIKON FESTIVAL MUGS are inspired by the subject of our theatrical stage production of 'AN EVENING AT THE TIKIS'. The TIKIS was the legendary Polynesian Theme Park that operated in Monterey Park, California from the early 1960s thru the early 1980s.
The SATIN BLACK version of this mug is inspired by the Hawaiian tourist favorite, COCO JOE'S. Measuring at 10.5 inches tall these mugs are HUGE just like DANNY BALSZ himself! They feature a stylized Marquesan Tiki god as depicted in a famous photo by SVEN KIRSTEN from both THE BOOK of TIKI and OCEANIC ARTS: The Godfathers of TIKI.
This velvety satin black glaze makes this mug colorway look as if it something out of THE TIKIS park's gift shop. Includes a removable lid with straw hole.
This COCO JOE'S BLACK colorway is limited to 150 mugs only. Here is the remaining stock from EXOTIKON ONE and are available on a first come, first serve basis. Comes with some EXOTIKON print swag such as official postcard and show program! (while supplies last)
Design by EXOTIKON founder, JORDAN REICHEK and Sculpt by TUFAN SEZER. MADE IN THE USA."

Tiki Kon 2023 Event Mug - Happy Traveler Face Edition - by VanTiki
aka Version A, Final Voyage S.S. Mai Tai Mug 2023 in 7 collections
This Happy Traveler Face Edition is one of three box-shaped mugs (square buckets) issued for the 2023 Tiki Kon in Portland, Oregon.
These three versions (A, B, and C on bottoms) hearken back to prior Tiki Kon mugs done by VanTiki.
This version (A) hearkens back to the Happy Traveler Menehune mug issued in 2015 that was in turn based on an idol which is currently on display at the Bishop Museum in Honolulu. The tiki face side has half-circle eyes, a small narrow nose, and an elliptical/oval mouth. The other versions feature a winking face with tongue sticking out (C, which has the face of the 2020 Eye of the Tiki), and a tiki face with a dog-bone shaped mouth (B, which has the face of the 2018 Volcano mug).
Forbidden Rye - Second Edition - - by Bauer Pottery - for Lost Temple Traders
aka Forbidden Rye II in 3 collections
This mug features a cobra twined around and bursting through the stonework of an ancient Egyptian pillar decorated with lotus blossoms and with an oil brazier on top.
The name is inspired by Skipper Melissa (Melissa Nickoloff from Trader Sam's) and her cocktail, the "Temple of the Forbidden Rye" and the Indiana Jones ride in Adventureland which welcomes visitors to the Temple of the Forbidden Eye.
Melissa has stated that she wanted to do a tiki riff on "The Lion's Tail" which is a classic bourbon drink with allspice and lime. Her cocktail also seems to have some DNA from the classic tiki "Western Sour" cocktail which includes bourbon/falernum/lime (named "Zambezi Sour" on the Sam's menu). Melissa's cocktail includes:
1.75 oz rye whiskey, 0.5 oz St. Elizabeth Allspice Dram, 1 oz pineapple juice, 0.5 oz lime juice, 0.5 oz ginger syrup, 0.25 oz Falernum, and 2 dashes of Angostura bitters
From the Lost Temple Traders website:
"Deep in the heart of the darkest jungle lies the ruins of a Lost Temple. The stone pillars that mark the entrance come with an ominous warning: Forbidden. What wonders await inside? What horrors?
The second edition Forbidden Rye is made in collaboration with Tiki Bauer, and is limited to 250 pieces. It is our loving nod to Skipper Melissa's modern classic cocktail.
Forbidden Rye is estimated to ship Q4 2022 (hopefully a lot sooner barring any unforeseen challenges as they're already in production, but this is our safe estimate given the state of the world)."
This edition was preceded by the first edition which was a light brown/tan with green glazed snake.
*NOTE: These second edition mugs went out at beginning of February 2023.
