Compared with other tiki bars of the day, they have a more psychedelic, swinging ’60s UK feel to them, with bright colors and fantastic scenery.

The Minehead camp location was the last of the Butlin's Beachcomber Bars to close, in 1997.

Bognor was the first of the Butlin's chain of family holiday locations to get a Beachcomber Bar, opened in 1960.

The Outrigger was in the Surf & Sand Hotel. It was one of several restaurants owned by Glenn Billingsley, first husband of Barbara Billingsley of "Leave It to Beaver" fame.

Known for their celebrity bartender, Popo, who worked at several other locations and won some prestigious cocktail contests.

Hula's Island Grill in Monterey started off initially in 1998 with more of a Hawaiiana/Surf feel, but has been deepening its tiki roots over the years, most notably with the addition of their Tiki Room. Carved masks and trim details by the artist Bosko are throughout the restaurant, and a very large Tiki Tony carving shares the space with much bamboo and Leeteg reproductions. The restaurant is enormously popular with locals, and has a very cozy, intimate feel. Traditional drinks include a proper Mai Tai, and Hula's has their own branded glassware and their own branded tiki mugs available (call ahead to make sure they are in stock).

In 2006, a second location opened up the coast in Santa Cruz. Then, Hula's Modern Tiki opened in Phoenix (2009-2018) followed by Hula's Modern locations in Scottsdale (2014) and High Street (2020). The first Hula's Modern Tiki in Phoenix re-located on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018 to a new location on Seventh Street north of Camelback Road, less than a mile away from the original.

There was a Pantley's Pagan Hut in Depoe Bay, OR, which must have been related to this location somehow. The Oregon location was connected to Pantley's Motel Apartments, no word on whether this location was also connected to a Motel.

Opened some time in the 1950s (circa 1956 or so) by Robert Pantley.

Was owned & operated by Pantley's Motel Apartments, right on the ocean.

The Pagan Hut lasted into the early-mid 1960s. It then became known as known as the Surfpoint Inn. The Surfpoint seemed to run in to some trouble. In December, 1968, the tide came so far inland that it smashed the property windows and flooded the dining room. In October, 1977, the property was seriously damaged by a series of storms that hit the Oregon Coast.

Later, the motel became the King Surf Resort, and this restaurant became the Pikake Hut.

At some point in its history, the bar was known as the Pupule Lanai.

There was also a Pantley's Pagan Hut on SW 10th and Stark in Portland, OR (1960-1962) and a Pantley's Pagan Room in Bellevue, WA, which must have been related somehow.

The structures for Pantley's Motel Apartments and the Pagan Hut are gone, and timeshares are now on the spot.

Alfredo's Beach Club had 6 locations up and down the Belmont Shore.

This location, Alfredo's Beach Shack, opened @2010.

This was a snack bar -- no liquor license. It was part of an in-line skate shop. They rented themselves out and helped with private parties, sometimes luaus or other Hawaiian-themed events.

There were a couple of tikis on premises but this was by no means a full-time tiki establishment.

Closed @2019.

Alfredo’s Beach Shack was demolished in 2021.

Now home to Saltwater Deck as of 2022.

This location on Fairfax was the second of two, built in 1950, the first being built at Pico in 1947. Two men, Thomas Kelley and Jack Bouck, combined the first syllables of their last names and invented Kelbo’s, a small chain of Hawaiian barbecues whose food was not all that Hawaiian: burgers, barbecue meat sandwiches and some miscellaneous seafood. The concession to the islands was that every plate was garnished with a piece of pineapple and the fried shrimp was coated with coconut. They also served very sweet (but very good) barbecued ribs and had a menu of tropical drinks, some of which came flaming or served in a skull mug. Eli Hedley was the main designer and he was also responsible for the interior of other tropical-themed restaurants like Don the Beachcomber. Kelbo’s felt like a place that had been decorated in the thirties or forties and then no one changed anything. As mentioned, there were two Kelbo’s. This one was on Fairfax across from CBS Television City in La Brea, and was later torn down. It was a popular hangout for crew members who worked across the street at CBS Television City in the fifties and sixties. The building that housed the other was over on Pico at Exposition.  After that location was shuttered, the building was converted into a bikini bar called Fantasy Island for a time.  Much of the Kelbo’s advertising art was done by Bob Hale who otherwise turned up on Los Angeles TV from time to time as a cartooning weatherman. (He was also active in Seattle where he owned a popular hobby shop that bore his name.) Hale’s drawings of a fat Hawaiian guy in native garb could be seen on Kelbo’s napkins and menus, and both of the Kelbo's outlets had huge Bob Hale murals on the outside.

This bar may have a tiki or two but it's not really a tiki bar.

The focus is on beer or whiskey shots. They may have a few simple cocktail specials on certain days.

It has much more of a college dive bar vibe.

Food menu is limited - corn dogs, pizza, burgers, chicken wings, etc...

Humphrey's Half Moon Inn is a large hotel (two stories, 182 rooms) on Shelter Island, built in 1960 with Polynesian touches in accordance with the Harbor Department's requirement that all structures on the artificial island be Polynesian in appearance.

It is an upscale hotel, sporting a dramatic A-frame porte cochere and many well-maintained and unusual tikis throughout the grounds. In the summertime, Humphrey's plays host to national music acts during their very popular Humphrey's Concerts by the Bay series.

Humphrey's is one of several great vintage tiki locations on Shelter Island in San Diego, the others being Bali Hai Restaurant and Trader Mort's Liquor.

A local-music dive bar that served the SLC Ska/Punk set. There does not appear to be a connection with the Albuquerque Burt's Tiki Lounge. It closed in 2014.
