Yonamoto, Yachiyo, Japan
Open since at least 2012, if not earlier.
Restaurant Waikiki is in the Yonamoto area of Yachiyo in Chiba prefecture. Two large tikis flank the entrance.
Liki Tiki
Colorado Springs, Colorado, United States (Closed)
Liki Tiki was a small juice bar/refreshment stand inside the Colorado Springs Bike Shop. The stand served lemonade, smoothies, and other light refreshments. The bike shop has been operating since 1973, but the small tikified stand was a newer addition, having inherited a large tiki from The Castaways in nearby Manitou Springs. The bike shop is easily spotted with its front lighthouse facade.
Liki Tiki was closed in 2019 in anticipation of the relocation of the Cerberus Brewing Company. Since 2016, Cerberus had run a brewpub on the corner opposite the bike shop (702 W. Colorado Ave.), and its popularity triggered the need for expansion. However, as of summer 2021, it appears Cerberus has remained where it is and the bike shop is still operating.
Bootlegger Tiki

The walls and ceiling are lined with lauhala mats and Asian-motif graphic wallpaper, framed by bamboo. A creative slate of craft-inspired tiki cocktails are offered. There is a small covered outdoor patio.

Kon-Tiki - Portland
Portland, Oregon, United States (Closed)
Opened September 26th, 1959.
This restaurant was part of the Kon-Tiki chain owned by Steve Crane. It was in the Sheraton-Motor Inn, later called the Sheraton-Portland, in Lloyd Center, and featured three waterfalls. The site is now a Doubletree Hotel.
Closed in 1980 or 1981.
Some of the tikis from the Kon-Tiki wound up at the Jasmine Tree restaurant, including three large cannibal tikis. When the Jasmine Tree closed in late 2006, the tikis and other decor headed to another tiki bar in the area, Thatch, which later became Hale Pele.
Indianola: a Tiki Resort
Palm Springs, California, United States (Closed)
The Indianola was a lovingly-restored, small 12-unit hotel in the Movie Colony district of Palm Springs. The property was originally opened as the Indianola Lodge in 1955, and had fallen into disrepair when it was purchased in September of 2001 by partners Michael Glenner and Steven Rockwell. Glenner and Rockwell turned the run-down hotel into a posh clothing-optional resort for gay men, with a retro, polynesian pop theme. It opened in 2003. Guests were greeted with a lei and a cocktail on arrival; there was a weekly cocktail party where guests were encouraged to wear costumes provided in their rooms, including sarongs and pith helmets.
The Indianola closed in 2008, and today as of 2021, it is home to the Avanti Hotel.
Leilani Lanes & Lani Kai Restaurant
Seattle, Washington, United States (Closed)
This Seattle landmark opened in 1961.
There was a large tiki at the entrance, two small tiki masks at the front desk, modern purple painted tikis on the side walls, and most remarkably, three large Witco pieces near the bathrooms on the bar side of the bowling alley. Some more Witco could be seen peering up from the offices behind the scenes. Aside from the bathrooms, there was no evidence of tiki remaining in the bar area, although there likely was at some point in time. The bar area did have a freestanding hammered metal fireplace and small operating water feature, however.
In October 2005 the alley was slated to be demolished to make way for a massive apartment & retail complex. It closed in 2006 and was demolished in November of 2007.
The Jasmine Tree
Portland, Oregon, United States (Closed)
Open since at least the 1980s.
The Jasmine Tree was more of a Chinese restaurant than a tiki bar, but the bar area did have some very nice tikis. Notably, some of the tikis were from the Portland Kon-Tiki (which closed in 1980 or 1981), including three large cannibal tikis.
In February 2006 came reports that the Jasmine Tree would have to either close or relocate, due to an urban redevelopment plan. The Jasmine Tree had to be out of its location by the end of October 2006. In September 2006, the Jasmine Tree closed and its tiki-themed decor was sold to the owner of the Portland tiki bar Thatch, which opened in early 2007, and later became Hale Pele.
Toucans Tiki Lounge
Palm Springs, California, United States
Toucans opened in 2002, and is a tiki bar nightclub catering to Palm Springs' large gay population. The earlier theming was more tropical-light, but over the years the tiki angle has intensified, and now it is full of beautiful vintage lamps, hut structures, bamboo, thatch, and large tikis. Toucans offers fairly standard nightclub drink fare, but they do have a Mai Tai. Toucans' specialty is drag shows.
