Opened in 1959, Tiki Bob's Mainland Rendezvous, more commonly shortened to Tiki Bob's Mainland, was the second location of the fabled Tiki Bob's to be located in San Francisco, the original was at Post & Taylor. This short-lived location catered to the nearby businessmen by offering "lingerie shows" where young women walked through the restaurant in their skivvies. Ostensibly, the idea was that these models would inspire the businessmen to then purchase the lingerie to bring home for their wives. Lingerie shows lived on in the neighborhood for quite some time -- nearby Sutter Station tavern was still doing them as late as the 2000s.

Today, the same space now holds Pagan Idol.

Ollie Vee's, a vintage store in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, added a Tiki Lounge to one of its upper levels in 2014. During the day, store visitors can enjoy the space with a coffee from the Ollie Vee's cafe. The store is closed in the evenings, but they sometimes hold special evening events in the space, and it is available for private rental; for these special events, they are licensed to serve tropical cocktails. On Saturday afternoons, there is a ukulele jam. The space is clad in bamboo and matting, with tikis.

As of September 2024, the owners announced they would like to sell their bar to someone who would enjoy running their own Tiki Bar...

This Trader Vic's opened in March 2016. It is located within the H Resort Beau Vallon Beach on the island of Mah in the Seychelles, far off the east coast of Africa.

This Trader Vic's location opened in 2014, in the then-new Hilton Doha. The restaurant is in its own circular, window-lined building with dramatic views of Doha Bay. The room is ringed with tapa cloth, and the faceted ceiling has many floats and other beachcomber lamps.

Tahitian Village is the newer outdoor extension of the main Trader Vic's with great ocean views.

This Trader Vic's location opened in 2010 and closed in 2019. Being in Saudi Arabia, there was no alcohol at this Trader Vic's, but they did serve tropical "mocktails."

The Grass Skirt opened November 7th, 2016, in San Diego's Pacific Beach neighborhood. It is owned by the SDCM restaurant group. This speakeasy-style tiki bar is hidden behind a poke restaurant, Good Time Poke. There is a full menu of tropical cocktails, mostly their own creations, and a menu of seafood-centered dishes. Carved posts by local tiki legend Tiki Bosko support thatch over booths wrapping around a central fire pit, and backed by a grand mural of Diamond Head with a hula dancer. The bar is backed with orange tile and lava rock, and fronted by bamboo, lauhala and tapa cloth. One booth sits inside the mouth of a huge tiki head.

Trader Eng's opened on June 27th, 1963, and operated until 1981.

It was owned and operated by Walter England Huckabee, Jr. ("Eng" being short for "England"). Walter was born in 1920 and passed on in 2003 at 83 years old. He had previously been in the military and ran a couple of Kentucky Fried Chicken locations.

Trader Eng's was a Polynesian restaurant with the decor to match, including fake palm trees, a-frame "huts," and bridges, and it featured a "hibachi" (teppanyaki) grill. The bar was called the Shell Bar. It was located in the Peachtree Towers, north of downtown Atlanta.

Trader Eng's closed in 1981, and today the site is a condominium building.

There was also an attempt to franchise the business and a second location was opened in 1969, at 2814 Apalachee Parkway in Tallahassee, Florida. This location later became Lucy Ho's and King Buffet.

Saturn Room opened in Tulsa, Oklahoma in April 2015, in the Brady Arts District, a bit north of downtown.

The bar is owned by Noah Bush, John Gaberino and Jeremy Reed, a team that has experience with craft cocktail bars.

They've dived into tiki in a big way, with a space that's full of tikis, thatch-covered booths, and float lights.

The drinks are served in tiki mugs, including a Chairman Mao mug with their logo. Their logo also shows up on a blue swizzle stick.

Shrunken Head Tropic Lounge was a modern tiki bar combining elements of mid-century Polynesian pop culture with Caribbean and general tropical influences. The bar was opened by California transplant Jonny VerPlanck in 2013. The decor was simple, with large shrunken heads and the bar's name painted on the walls, and a lauhala-fronted bar. Carved tiki poles flanked the back bar.

Tiffany and Conrad Hildebrand bought Shrunken Head from Jonny VerPlanck in 2015.

While the bar’s customer base dwindled over the following years, Hildebrand said, Shrunken Head’s catering business flourished, offering bar service at events throughout Mid-Missouri like weddings, corporate parties and concerts — including downtown Jefferson City’s Angiepalooza and The Millbottom’s Fourth of July party, for example.

“Instead of just closing down everything, we’re going to just close down the bar and focus on the catering,” she said.

The bar closed on February 23, 2019.

Beachbum Berry's Latitude 29 is the much anticipated venture of Jeff "Beachbum" Berry and his wife Annene Kaye. Berry has worked tirelessly for the past two decades (who am I kidding? he's a bum, he got tired now and then), researching the long-lost recipes for classic exotic cocktails from the heyday of Tiki. We all have the Bum (and his publishers!) to thank for the revival of the well-crafted exotic cocktail, via his books The Grog Log, Intoxica!, Taboo Table, Beachbum Berry Remixed, and Potions of the Caribbean.

Latitude 29 opened in November 2014, inside the Bienville House Hotel. The drink menu is a mix of Tiki classics (some of them the Bum has been keeping in his back pocket for just this occasion), and modern inventions by the Bum himself. Latitude 29 follows through on drink presentation, with custom swizzles and just-so garnish and ice touches. The bar team is led by Brad Smith; the Bum himself won't be found behind the bar, but rather playing host, like a Beachbum should.

The food menu, originated by chef Chris Shortall and now under the care of executive chef James Rivard, leaves the sticky-sweet Chinese-meets-pineapple history of Polynesian restaurants behind, and instead has more modern, fresh takes on the ethnic blend of flavors available in Polynesia today.

The decor is not quite the dark, encrusted enclave one might expect from a dyed-in-the-barkcloth tikiphile like Berry, but the windows and hotel location have dictated a brighter approach. There's no mistaking this space for anything but Tiki, though, thanks largely to the work of artisans Bosko and Tiki Diablo. There are large tiki carvings throughout, and behind the bar is a beautiful map depicting the carving styles found throughout the islands of the Pacific. There are many vintage beachcomber lamps and other items from Berry's long-lived Tiki collection.

Tiki Tolteca is located right next door (although they closed on September 27th, 2021 except for private parties).

Lucky Joe's Tiki Room opened in the Walker's Point neighborhood of Milwaukee in November 2012. Lucky Joe's drink menu was a mix of tiki classics and their own unique inventions, with a focus on quality ingredients. Walls were lined with lauhala and bamboo, and a large Moai greeted you near the entrance. Lucky Joe's Tiki Room closed at the end of October 2015, when the building it occupied was sold to property developers.

Opened in 2011.

This Trader Vic's Mai Tai Lounge was a bit larger than the other Mai Tai Lounge restaurants, with a more complete food offering, including a sushi bar. It did, however, feel very much like a lounge concept, versus the more traditional, cozy Vic's restaurants. It was open especially late - until 6am - and the decor was sleek, modern, and lounge-y, with only a few bold tiki motif items.

The lounge parted ways with the Trader Vic's brand in 2012, and continued to operate as just "Mai Tai Lounge" until it closed around 2014.
