Tiki Bars
South London Pacific
London, United Kingdom (Closed)
Created by "Skipper" Josh Collins who went on to create the Hula Bula Bar in Australia.
Interior boasted a number of very large painted styrofoam tikis.
This location was described as heavy on the nightclub and while they did offer Vietnamese style "finger food", few went here simply to dine.
South London Pacific closed in 2018 after 15+ years and is now The Cock Tavern London. The new owners retained some of the tiki decor and worked it into their otherwise Georgian style theme.
Oriental Garden
Haverhill, Massachusetts, United States
This is one of those cases where a site is not closed or fallen into disrepair, but for the interested tikiphile, there's not much here worth checking out.
Oriental Gardens is a typical Chinese restaurant today but at one time it was adorned with tikis, thatched roofs and authentic looking decor.
The only thing apparently left from its tiki heyday is the rock pond/fountain as seen below in vintage photos...and a lengthy tropical cocktail menu still in effect.
It's located in a strip mall, has a small lounge and a decent size dining area. It looks as though it was remodeled around 2000 or so and doesn't really show any signs of neglect. If you are looking for a decent Chinese restaurant or tropical beverage and are in the area, it could be worth a look, but don't expect to see any tiki decor.
*NOTE: Cocktail menu is current as of 2022.
Tonga Apartments
Ventura, California, United States
Built in 1968, this two-story apartment complex sits on just over an acre of property and has a classic mid century Polynesian roofline. The only visible tiki appears to be in the front and is quite likely one of the long-tongued Oceanic Arts fiberglass six foot tikis that you can still purchase today.
The Islander Apartments
Santa Ana, California, United States
The Islander Apartments were built in 1962, in the Riverglen neighborhood of Santa Ana, California. The entry is a swooped A-frame structure, with a tiki underneath. More tikis can be found supporting a second A-frame structure by the pool area. The apartment complex has a carved wooden sign. More free-standing tikis likely existed and have long since rotted away or been removed, but the tiki poles for the A-frames still remain.
The community consists of 63 one-story units in 1, 2, and 3 bedroom arrangements. The property sits on 5 landscaped acres.
Restaurant Waikiki - Yachiyo, Japan
Yonamoto, Yachiyo, Japan

Restaurant Waikiki is in the Yonamoto area of Yachiyo in Chiba prefecture. Two large tikis flank the entrance.
Dan'ton-Ku
Biel, Switzerland
Dan'ton-Ku opened in February 2013 in the city of Biel or Bienne, depending on whether you speak German Swiss or French Swiss. The exterior facade of the tiki bar is flanked by two tall tikis. The bar's stools are carved tikis, and more carved tikis serve as supports for tall tables. The decor uses a lot of bamboo and matting, with tiki masks on the walls. Drinks are served in tiki mugs and volcano bowls.
Mata Hari Bar
Zürich, Switzerland
Mata Hari Bar has been in the Gewerbeschule quarter of Zurich since 2004. The room is ringed with plush red velvet seating, with walls lined in bamboo. The bar back is flanked by two large, carved tikis.
City Beverage
Durham, North Carolina, United States (Closed)
City Beverage was a kitsch fantasia of a bar & restaurant, with a smattering of retro & vintage decor, including a good dose of tiki. Silk flower garlands hung from the ceiling, and a few tikis could be found in corners. City Beverage opened in 2004, and later expanded; the original area of the restaurant was called the Lava Lounge. A few tropical drinks were served, including a Volcano Bowl.
City Beverage closed in February 2016.
The Waterfront Restaurant
Redwood City, California, United States (Closed)
Opened in 1973.
This old school restaurant was also known by the names "Harbor House" (a previous name) and "Pete's Harbor" (the name of the harbor where the restaurant resides). The entry was flanked by two large, old wooden tikis that were a bit rotted and termite ridden, but were still gorgeous. The entry was covered by thatch, and the building had a nautical feel. The tiki apparently ended by the time you were inside, though.
The restaurant closed for good at the end of 2012, the property fated for redevelopment.
Bali-Hai Hotel
Magallanes, Acapulco de Juárez, Mexico
Bali-Hai Hotel is just a short distance from the beach in the heart of Acapulco. There is a restaurant and bar on-site. There are several tikis at the entrance, and there appears to be a thatch-covered building with swooping A-frame ends near the pool.
Haifischbar
Augsburg-Innenstadt, Augsburg, Germany
Haifischbar ("Shark Bar") opened in 2006, in Augsburg in Bavarian Suebia, in Germany.
American food and tropical cocktails are served, in a setting with plenty of bamboo and some large tikis, plus a swordfish mounted on the wall.
