The lush 10 acre estate in the heart of Sherman Oaks has 120 Palm Trees, Fountains, an 18 Hole Par 3 Golf Course, a recording studio, Health Spa, 4 Pools, Tennis Courts Singles, 1 & 2 Bedroom Apartment Homes Plus 15 Individual Family Homes.

The Castaway - Oakland

Open from around 1962 (or '63) to at least 1980.
It was housed in the former Haslett Warehouse, now known as 66 Franklin, which was originally constructed in 1926 for the Lawrence Company.
Around 1961 it became home to the Mikado restaurant on the ground floor, and a special glass elevator took guests up to the Castaway which opened in 1962-63, a Polynesian-theme restaurant in a new penthouse that was constructed on the roof.
Later the Castaway venue became home to the Old Spaghetti Factory restaurant.
The Warehouse was again remodeled in 2006 to restore the appearance closer to the original design. It is now home to Forge Pizza and other restaurants on the ground floor.
This Castaway location had a sister restaurant at The Castaway - San Mateo - at Coyote Point Recreation Area.
Congo Room - at The Tropics

Opened in 1964 as part of The Tropics (now the Caliente Tropics Resort) by Ken Kimes.
In its '60s heyday, the Congo Room steakhouse and underground Cellar bar, attracted celebrities. The Congo Room later became the Reef Bar.
Don the Beachcomber - at Vacation Village Hotel - San Diego

The second attempt to establish a Don the Beachcomber in San Diego was just as short-lived as the first.
It opened in 1980, replacing the Barefoot Bar that had been there since 1962.
After Don the Beachcomber closed in 1983, the space once again became the Barefoot Bar.
Today, The Vacation Village Hotel is now called Paradise Point Resort & Spa.
The Tahitian Room - at the U.S. Grant Hotel

The Tahitian Room was a Polynesian-themed restaurant and bar in the U.S. Grant Hotel's northern annex that opened in 1960. It closed 10 years later and the annex was demolished and replaced with a parking lot.
The Luau - La Jolla

Opened April 28th, 1960.
The Luau copied its name, logo and much of its menu from The Luau of Beverly Hills, but it's unclear whether there was any formal connection.
Closed in 1966.
The Polynesian - San Diego

Opened in 1954.
The Polynesian tiki restaurant and bar featured an interior modestly decorated with bamboo, fishing nets, rattan furniture and tiki lamps. Besides tropical drinks, it also served Cantonese food, and charcoal-broiled and teriyaki steaks.
Closed in 1974.
The location is now a parking lot.
Chi-Chi - San Diego

The Chi-Chi was one of a chain with locations also in Palm Springs, Hollywood, Riverside and Long Beach. The San Diego location opened in 1946 and included the South Seas Room. It closed in 1951.
As of 2023, this location is home to Urban India Restaurant & Bar.
Hula Hut - San Diego

Opened in 1946, the Hula Hut was a Hawaiian-themed bar located where the Tropic Cafe had previously been. It closed in 1965 and the whole block was raised to make way for the Westgate Hotel.
The Hurricane - San Diego

The Hurricane was a tropical cocktail lounge opened in 1945 by Sam Stutz and Edward Bolander, who operated a number of other bars/restaurants in town. The bar went through a long series of owners before closing in 1960.
Aloha Inn Cafe

This Hawaiian-themed bar and cafe opened in 1939. It remained at its original location (3827 Park Blvd.) until 1966 when it moved next door to 3811 Park Blvd. It closed in the mid-1970s.
