Our handmade tiki hut takes inspiration from the Polynesian Islands, with a cocktail list just as tropical to match! You’ll find us centrally located in West End on Vulture Street. Though she is but small… she is mighty. Making and shaking is what we do, baby. We love mixing up tropical concoctions with a list of drinks reflecting seasonal produce and emerging rums. Let us know if you have a classic cocktail or something different in mind; we can more than likely whip that up for you. We also have a wall of rum, a range of local and international beers and tasty beverages rotating on tap."

This small place is run by a Chamorro family that also runs the adjacent JJ's Island Grind restaurant. You can bring in food from there (which is mostly Hawaiian, Chamorro and Filipino style foods). The bar is a mix of what one might call modern Island style, and a lot of the decor is standard, mass-produced stuff (masks, fish floats, signs, etc.). There are several TV screens, but they seem to mostly play Chamorro music videos.

"In 2018, after 10 amazing years on Central Avenue, HULA’S surfed into an all-new location in uptown Phoenix. Led by partner Chris Delaney (who is the design soul of HULA’S) we stripped the old, dark space back to its mid-century modern bones, added a soaring central bar, the top embedded with tumbled sea glass, and built out a spacious indoor-outdoor dining patio replete with HULA’S signature fire pit. Plus, we added HULA’S first-ever private dining space (The Tiki Room) and a nautical-themed craft cocktail bar/lounge called The Captain’s Cabin."

Hula's modern re-located here in 2018 from their original location on Central Avenue (2009-2018) and then opened a location on High Street as well, making a grand total of three Hula's locations in Arizona if you include the Scottsdale location as well.

The main area is pretty sparse, going with the modern aesthetic/theme but there are a couple of tikis outside flanking the door and there are some tiki plaques at the back of the room close to the restrooms. Inside there is colored mood lighting but also bar televisions set to sports channels.

For tikiphiles, you may want to call ahead if you have a large group and reserve the more lavish Tiki Room area in back which is preceded by a large tiki and mug shelf display -- and upon entering reveals a more traditionally tiki atmosphere with lauhala matting on the walls, a large swag lamp in the center, more tiki plaques, and padded benches covered in tropical barkcloth print fabric. This room is served just as another portion of the main Hula's restaurant with the same food and cocktail menu.

However, outside and from an unmarked door separate from the rest of Hula's is a speakeasy style bar called The Captain's Cabin, which has its own cocktail menu and is housed inside a room meant to resemble its namesake with rough planking and nautical furnishings. Tiki-Ko opened in Bakersfield in June 2016, and is owned by Roy Scarazzo and Sonya Gamargo. The interior, designed and built by Danny "Tiki Diablo" Gallardo, features vintage Witco pieces, beachcomber lamps, turquoise blue upholstery, and artwork by Tiki tOny. A full slate of traditional tropical cocktails is on offer, and there is a souvenir logo coconut mug available.

In June 2021, The Sinking Ship, a downstairs bar level, was opened. This basement bar, which has a capacity of 70 — more than twice the upstairs bar — has a mix of first come first served seating, and seven reserved areas, which can accommodate parties of two (like Quint's Cove) up to eight guests (Banana Crate Booth, which requires a $100 deposit good toward the bar tab). The entrance for The Sinking Ship is a few doors down from the main Tiki-Ko entrance at the corner. The Sinking Ship is packed with great details, from the Papua New Guinea masks throughout, to the sawfish rostrum hanging behind the bar, to the giant container of "Torpedo Juice" at the end of the bar. Flicker flame bulbs add atmosphere. The main ceiling is a giant map of the Caribbean, but other parts of the room have different ceiling treatments, including aged lauhala matting and corrugated metal papered in old Japanese newsprint. And there is something new to notice on each visit...

Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar finally answers the question we've all been asking ourselves: what would it be like if the Enchanted Tiki Room actually served alcohol?

Trader Sam's is named for the "head" salesman from the Jungle Cruise ride at Disneyland, and the decor is a mix of influence from that ride and the Enchanted Tiki Room, with a little of Walt Disney World's Adventurer's Club thrown in for good measure. Top-notch Disney designers Kevin Kidney and Jody Daily were able to work on some of the decor. The bar is utterly packed with entertaining bric-a-brac and artifacts from "Sam's" archives. The music is a pitch-perfect mix of Exotica, hapa haole and traditional Hawaiian tunes.

The servers have been given the same training as the skippers on the Jungle Cruise, and keep the atmosphere lively, silly, and very friendly. The bar has lots of surprises and interactive elements, some triggered by ordering particular drinks.

The quality of drink ingredients is higher than one might expect, with fresh-squeezed citrus and syrups from Portland's B. G. Reynolds in use. The alcohol content of the drinks tends to be a little light -- keep in mind, they want their guests to continue to enjoy their vacation the next day. Let your server know you're looking for something more in the vein of classic tiki, and they'll steer you in the right direction. If you like the punny performance given by the Jungle Cruise skippers, you'll love the drink names: "HippopotoMaiTai", "Schweitzer Falls" and "Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Rum" are some of the cleverly-named cocktails.

Kids are welcome at Trader Sam's, as long as they don't sit at the actual bar; there are several tables around the room where kids can sit. There is also an outdoor patio, where Hawaiian musicians perform nightly.

There is a small menu of pupus available. The bar is near a casual dining tropical restaurant that opened at the same time, called Tangaroa Terrace.

In 2015, a sister location opened at Walt Disney World in Orlando: Trader Sam's Grog Grotto.

This first Hula's Modern Tiki opened on Central Avenue in Phoenix in late 2009 and was re-located to uptown Phoenix in 2018. It came from the same minds behind the hit Hula's restaurants in Monterey and Santa Cruz. The concept with the Central location (and later iterations of the "Modern Tiki" concept) was a bit different -- while the Monterey and Santa Cruz locations have more of a surf-meets-tiki feel, the aesthetic here was a mix of midcentury modern and tiki.

The dominant feature of the space was a massive, hexagonal window that looked straight out of a '70s sci-fi film set (the building actually dated to 1965). The interiors were all sleek, but executed with a variety of organic materials to bring a sort of barely-primitive feel. The indoor area featured a large bar, and there was outdoor dining.

There was at least one large Tiki tOny tiki. Tiki mugs, especially from Munktiki, filled cases around the restaurant. Volcano bowl drinks were available, and drinks were served in glassware with the Hula's tiki logo. Like the other Hula's locations, it won rave reviews for its food.

The Central Avenue location is now currently home to a new restaurant called Persepshen as of October 2019.

In addition to the uptown Phoenix location since 2018, two other Hula's Modern locations have opened in Arizona: a Scottsdale location opened in early 2014 and a third location opened in High Street in 2020.

Tiki Heart opened in Berlin's Kreuzberg area in early 2006. It has two parts: upstairs, a cafe serving coffee, cocktails and food; downstairs, a shop selling clothes and accessories. Tiki Heart is adjacent to the Wild at Heart music venue, and caters to the rockabilly crowd.

The Sneaky Tiki, or Joe's Sneaky Tiki, was a Hawaiian bar in San Leandro that operated in the 1970s and until at least the '80s. At some point it was run by Joe Denton and Don Groom; Don was a bartender. After it closed, the space later became Tabou Lounge, and Club Caliente.

Sneaky Tiki opened on the site of a former Hamburger Mary's in summer 2005. Early reports were lackluster; the restaurant was not actually particularly tiki by a tikiphile's standards -- more modern upscale nightclub. Pan-Asian food and mixed cocktails, tikis on the swizzles & napkins, but not a Polynesian Pop environment.

Sneaky Tiki closed in spring 2006.

From 2013 through 2022, this location has been home to The Willows, a bar and hamburger establishment.

Hula's Island Grill in Monterey started off initially in 1998 with more of a Hawaiiana/Surf feel, but has been deepening its tiki roots over the years, most notably with the addition of their Tiki Room. Carved masks and trim details by the artist Bosko are throughout the restaurant, and a very large Tiki Tony carving shares the space with much bamboo and Leeteg reproductions. The restaurant is enormously popular with locals, and has a very cozy, intimate feel. Traditional drinks include a proper Mai Tai, and Hula's has their own branded glassware and their own branded tiki mugs available (call ahead to make sure they are in stock).

In 2006, a second location opened up the coast in Santa Cruz. Then, Hula's Modern Tiki opened in Phoenix (2009-2018) followed by Hula's Modern locations in Scottsdale (2014) and High Street (2020). The first Hula's Modern Tiki in Phoenix re-located on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018 to a new location on Seventh Street north of Camelback Road, less than a mile away from the original.

This cartoony tiki bar in San Jose opened in 2005, and closed in early 2010. Smoke Tiki was a smokehouse, and served dishes featuring their own smoked meats. The restaurant had lots of tikis, some carved of wood, others (like the outside tiki head) made of metal, and a large metal palm tree at the indoor bar. Had a large back patio with its own bar. Its loud music and lighting were more suitable to a disco than a tiki bar.

Formerly located in a secret lounge above the Downtown Grill (2020-2024).

The Monkey's Paw closed their Downtown Grill location and re-opened at this new location in the basement of Pearl Passionate Cuisine & Cocktails (which closed June 23rd, 2024).

The Pearl venue became a new location called The Monkey's Paw Tropical Tapas on July 11th, 2024 with tapas dining upstairs and the Monkey's Paw Tiki Lounge downstairs.
