Island Lanai
Merritt Island, Florida, United States
Welcome to the Island Lanai, my enchanting outdoor Tiki bar, where the spirit of vintage Florida and exotic getaways comes alive. Inspired by the nostalgic charm of bygone Tiki Gardens, I've been fascinated with Tiki culture since childhood. Recently, I brought this passion to life in my own backyard, launching this project in early 2024.
As a work-in-progress, the Island Lanai is constantly evolving, with new treasures and authentic touches being added all the time. I scour garage sales and thrift shops for unique curios, while also crafting my own creations to adorn the lanai. The centerpiece of this oasis is a beautifully restored Bamboo and thatch Tiki bar, which I painstakingly revitalized from a damaged state.
Although I don't drink myself, I'm dedicated to perfecting non-alcoholic versions of classic Tiki cocktails, ensuring everyone can indulge in these tropical delights. My mission is to transport you to sun-drenched shores with every sip, as I carefully curate a menu of timeless Tiki treats.
The Island Lanai is more than just a bar – it's my small section of paradise, to escape, even if just for a few minutes. As you step into this care-free zone, you'll be surrounded by exotica and classic lounge music, exotic flavors, and an air of lush jungles, and the exotic, a slice of Tiki heaven.

Hiphipahula's Hale 66
Palmdale, California, United States
Hi everyone, while I don’t believe a home tiki bar is ever complete as it’s always changing and rearranging. I’m finally naming my Tiki bar and posting completed photos of it, at least for now. Aloha to fun times, great cocktails and most of all -- wonderful friends to visit at “Hiphipahula’s Hale 66”!
Thank you to Ben Bassham & Son (the build, anything bamboo, grass & shelving.) Desert Grizzly Photography(RJ Reilly) awesome bar photos a few photos by me. Tom Morgan for electricity and bar name and John-O for electricity and encouragement.
This bar incorporates a ton of pieces I have collected over the years, including an original sign and booth from the Tonga Hut in North Hollywood where I worked as a bartender, a beautiful resin lamp from A-Frame (Anders Anderson), a set of Witco furniture, tiki carvings from Kirby and others, paintings from many talented artist friends, and several float lamps I've collected over the years.
The most recent addition and a cherry on top is the bartop itself, which is a resin and wood slab imported from Turkey and, as The Dude from The Big Lebowski would say: "Really ties the room together!"
I really do live at #66 and the play on that number is just too fun. Please pay me a visit I’m happy to host with good friends. Get Your Kicks At Hale 66!
Brass Monkey Tiki
Salt Lake City, Utah, United States
In early 2024, my wife and I decided to be spontaneous and take a drive out to Denver. While exploring the city, we stumbled upon a small liquor store next to an antique shop we visited and noticed this huge brass monkey hanging above the register that immediately caught our attention. We both looked at each other and thought that would be a cool name and mascot for a tiki bar. A few months later with the brass monkey idea as the theme, we we found ourselves transforming an empty basement room in our home into our own little Tiki paradise. That curious monkey now hides amongst the flowers, Tiki totems, tiki mugs, and the faint scent of tiki cocktails that fills the air on the weekends.

Idle Hideaway
Porter, Texas, United States
The Idle Hideaway is a conversion of our original study into a hidden, rum sipping room. The goal was to create a comfortable seating area that felt closed off from the rest of the house, and also have enough room to include two pinball machines. We were working with a very small space, but the layout we came up with is very cozy. In the future, we’d like to add some automated/programmable light shows and sound effects.
