Haunted Mansion Gargoyle Mug - First Edition - by Tim Wollweber - for Trader Sam's Grog Grotto

in 2 collections

Designed after the iconic Gargoyles seen in the Haunted Mansion attraction at DisneyLand, the mug has two battery operated torches designed and produced by Grider.

From their advertising: "As the sun sets in New Orleans Square, creatures of the night emerge from the shadows. The mysterious 'Flying Foxes', known by the locals as the Souris-Chaude, haunt the trees of the Garden District. These delightfully dreaded creatures dart through the sky, driving the locals absolutely batty. Resting in the portrait gallery of a lonely old mansion, several strange stone Souris-Chaude Gargoyles light the way for visitors through deathly still air with their ever flickering candles."

Cocktails served with this edition were "The Look Alive Mai Tai" and the zero proof "Ghoulish Delight":

"The Look Alive Mai Tai" (Plantation Dark Rum, BACARDI Superior White Rum, Bols Blackberry Brandy, Passion Fruit-Orange-Guava Juice, Orgeat (Almond), Falernum, and lime juice).

"Ghoulish Delight" (Lyre’s Agave Reserva Spirit with Passion Fruit, grapefruit juice, lemon juice, agave, and soda water).

Compared to the other gray version of this design created for Club 33, this version has a bit more of a black wipe and the Grider torches are a bit more of a reddish bronze as opposed to the Club 33 torches which were a more golden brass. Of course, the bottom markings make it clear which is which.

This is the first edition for the Grog Grotto, although it was the fifth color-way of this design produced (including Club 33 and Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar in Anaheim).
